Our Story
The Heartland Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization created from our shared belief that people with cancer should not fall behind on treatment because they struggle to afford their everyday expenses. Our mission is to provide practical and immediate financial assistance to eligible cancer patients in our community so they can focus on what matters most: healing.
The people who come to us have heard the words no one wants to hear: “You have cancer.” Then they are overwhelmed with the realization that they have no support system or way to afford their bills. Some aren’t making it to treatment appointments because they can’t afford gas. Others are exhausting their bank accounts to pay for treatment and end up losing their car, job, or home.
Empowering the Heartland to Heal
We aspire to provide compassion and hope and remove barriers to care by providing housing and transportation grants for local cancer patients in need of additional support during their treatment journey.
In This Together
Chances are, cancer has had an impact on your life. Over 11,000 Nebraskans received a cancer diagnosis this year. That’s our neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family. Our wonderful circle of donors and supporters come together to care for those in our community facing both a cancer diagnosis and a financial hardship.
