About Tracy's Hope

Tracy’s HOPE is a program that was founded by Lori Borer to give the community an opportunity to participate in the Good Life Halfsy and raise money for the Heartland Cancer Foundation. The Heartland Cancer Foundation is a local non-profit organization created with one belief: "People with cancer should not fall behind because they struggle to afford their expenses. Our purpose is to encourage cancer patients, help them overcome financial burdens, and give them compassion so they can thrive." Donations through the Heartland Cancer Foundation go back to local families in Lincoln, Nebraska!
Lori Borer has been passionate about giving back to the local community many years. Starting back in 2007, Lori and her best friend Tracy started The Lucky 7 Run as a part of a fundraiser for their Relay For Life Team. The race continued until Tracy lost her battle with cancer on February 20, 2011. As a promise to Tracy, Lori continued the run in her memory and renamed the run "Tracy's Memorial Run". With the donations raised from Tracy's Memorial run, Lori would always donated back to a local family.
On August 13, 2016, Lori put on the final Tracy's Memorial Run as she opened her new retail store, Fleet Feet Lincoln. Over the years, she found ways to donate back to the community in honor of Tracy. In the years of owning her store, she has always had a
ladies event and would donate her raffle proceeds to Heartland Cancer Foundation. Lori has dreamed of ways she could make this even bigger and continue to give back to HCF. Going into year five of owning her running store she is changing her dream into a reality!
Tracy’s HOPE is a way that people can change lives through the power of running/walking. This has been Lori's dream to create a platform for runners/walkers to give back to a local charity. Now we have a local charity running program that will allow runners the opportunity to raise money as they train for a race and cross that finish line!
